From the time immortal vedaadyayanam and karmanushtanam are the prescribed duties of Brahmins which we were following for so many generations. But for the last 3-4 generations especially after British Invasion our ancestors abandoned veda adhyayanam and went for other jobs as they were in a situation where they had to earn money for their livelihood. Slowly the next generations also focused on English education and were very successful in grabbing secured jobs and also became successful as highly qualified professionals and wrongly concluded that vedic education is not required due to their ignorance. Our community became financially rich, and started leading luxurious life and also treated vaideekas as inferior to them and were not properly respected and supported them financially There were more than 300 vaideekas in trivandrum who had completed the full veda adhyayanam and prayogam 50 years back. But in due course the next generations of those who were in vaideekam also moved out of vedic education for better livelihood and social status. As a result our community became successful financially and attained material comfort to certain extend but on other hand we lost our great Samskara. There is lack of learned vaideekas and Acharyas in our community now a days. Slowly our community started facing new problems like divorce, infertility, other caste marriages, diseases by birth like autism and many other problems. The old people have to move to senior citizen homes as children abandoned them or were not in a position to take care them due to professional commitments and settling in abroad. Also there are many youth who are unemployed and another section of people who took jobs with no match to their educational qualifications. As we moved away from dharma the net result is sufferings and loss of mental peace though our community have all material and financial attainments to some extend. “Sukhumchana vino dharma thasmath dharma parobhavedh”. There is no happiness if dharma is not followed and hence Dharma is the highest amoung all says sasthra..Brahmanena nishkaranena shadango vedo adhyeyo nyeyasya” . Brahmin have to learn veda with six angas says sasthra without even asking the reason why to learn as it is their Dharma. In upanayam one is taking oath to learn vedas. But we never keeps the oath and not doing veda adhyayanam,we are doing great papam. Though the modern education needed for our earnings, our children should learn vedas and sasthra to get athma labham to over come kama krodha, lobha, moha madha, mathsaryam to lead a happy life without problems and to attain the Moksha which is the purpose of human life. One gets human life which is very rare after so many birth as , birds ,animals and so on ” Janthoonam narajanma durlabham” Says Adi Sankara. In that also Brahman janma is very very rare . Because of poorva janma punya one attains it. We should not waste the precious brahmana Janma by not following our Dharma. Any material attainment is useless in the end without samskara and dharma. We should know it’s limitation. Conversion is another threat to Sanathana Dharma. We should have to study veda and our dharma in detail to prevent conversion and guide other Hindu communities also. It is also notable that learning of religion is a must in many other religions. Hence to reestablish our dharma,we are starting a vedic study and research institute in Karamanai under the guidance of Mahamahopadyaya Brahmasree Dr Seshadrinatha Sasthrighal Retd Pricipal,Sanskrit college, Chennai to have the proper vedic studies especially for our children and also for elders in our society and will teach all our Dharma and samskara to our children. The age from 8 years to 16 years is the best time for one to by heart vedas as the absorption power of brain will be at its peak during this period, says Ayurveda. We are looking for full time students to join the 7 year veda adhyayanam for Yajurveda and will be also trained in the regular school education and can write examination after undergoing private study of school syllabus. But all parents of school going students should atleast send their children for one hour veda and sanskrit class on alternate days . The children will master vedas, sasthras and sanskrit to a large extend by the time they passout 10th standard. They will have very good samskara when they become grown up individuals. They can also opt Vaideekam as their career with right knowledge. They will lead happy and contended life and will follow our great dharma. All our Grahusthas also can join for veda adhyayanam and prayogam.
“Sthree moolamhi Dharmaha”. Without ladies there is no dharmanushtanam. All major karmanushtanam starts after the marriage. Ladies should know about their role in all karmas and will be provided training in all their areas of dharma.
We request all members of our community to take this venture as their own and extend their cooperation to make this venture a grand success.
As the theory will get fulfilment when it is practiced we do have the facility to do all Vaideeka Prayogas including shodasha samskaras, ( Upanayanam, Kalyanam etc) , Shanthi (Shashtiabdapoorthy, Sadabhishekam) etc and also homams like, Ganapathy homam, Mruthyunjaya homam, Ayush homam etc.
We will also train the young grahasthas the upanyana and other samskara manthras and Brahmacharis who are about to be married,Vivaha councelling along vivaha manthra for proper chanting to get full benefits. You can contact us for more details
Need of Veda Studies.
What we need is empathy rather than the sympathy. We have to understand the value of our culture and start imparting the Vedic education , Sanskrit study to our children. We should make the young generation understand value of Sanathana Dharma and train them to implement it in their life. Three generations back due to British invasion, our ancestors have to leave the traditional education for livelihood. We got the advantage of English education because of that and it definitely gave us the strength and knowledge to enter into different profession and become financially rich and satisfy the materialistic needs but on other hand now the society is almost bankrupt in samskara and are ignorant about our dharma. We face so many issues due to loss of our samskara like divorces, marriages not happening, infertility, birth defects due to genetic problem, life style diseases which were very very rare those days. We should take all efforts to bring back our samskaras as the material and spiritual advancement both needed for happiness in life which is not their though financially sound. The financially sound people should support our archakas, priest and help the society in imparting Vedic education to our children.. The rich people now spend now huge money for hotels, tours and the trend is to lead a luxurious life . These people should realize this and spend a good portion of their income to promote our samskara and dharma. Without dharma the end result will be sorrow even for the richest person. Everyone can contribute a small portion of their earning for that as our duty. This is an emergency situation and all should act accordingly.
