Description
Vivaham
According to the Vedas, marriage is a union between a masculine and feminine entity with commitments to pursue Dharma (tenets of religion), Artha (possessions), Kama (desires) and Moksha (the liberation) in unison. Vivaha is one of the 16 Samaskaras in Hinduism starting from conception to marriage to old age and death. Vivaha Samaskara influences the life of a couple as partners by enabling them to take their rightful place in society as Gruhashta. Scripturally, it is viewed as a celebration of elevation to the next level of one’s Karmic experience. Through Vivaha a man also creates progeny for spreading Dharma. According to Manusmriti, a big scripture of Hindu Dharma Shastra, there are eight different types of marriages. Not all eight approved by scriptures, some are approved while others are considered to be not good. These are: Brahma Marriage, Daiva Marriage, Arsha Marriage, Prajapatya Marriage, Gandharva Marriage, Asura Marriage, Rakshasa Marriage, Paishacha Marriage. (for details of each of these marriages you can contact us). Currently we follow Brahma Vivaham.
